Srinagar: An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

As per ANI,  at least 2-3 terrorists are believed to have been trapped by the forces.

The encounter is currently underway and is taking place at Redwora area of the central Kashmir.

Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in Redbug area of Budgam this evening after receiving specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area, said a police official who refused to be identified.

He said the search operation turned into an encounter as the security forces were fired upon by the militants.

Two militants are believed to be trapped there, the official said.

There were no reports of any casualty so far.

The development comes a day after a group of terrorists launched an attack on a bus carrying over 50 Amarnath pilgrims near Khanabal when it was on its way to Jammu.

The attack took place hours after the Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have busted a Lashkar-e-Taiba module with the arrests of two persons, including Sandeep Kumar Sharma alias Adil, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.
