New Delhi: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan, whose restraint while being abused and kicked by Kashmiri youth won many hearts, says that he was not scared of stone-pelters.

In an exclusive conversation with Zee Media, the CRPF jawan, who hails from Khetarajpur in Odisha's Sambalpur district, said he would serve the country till his last breath.

The jawan added he was not scared of stone-pelters but was wary of a situation which could spin out of control.

Vicky Vishwakarma, who is back home on a holiday, said he exercised restraint and did not respond to the abuses hurled at him for the welfare of the nation.

"It was a very sensitive area. I just wanted to fulfil my duty. It is difficult but this is what we are taught during our training that we have to take care of ourselves as well as our country in every circumstance. They (stone-pelters) were shouting slogans like `Pakistan Zindabad`, `Go India, Go back' to torture us, but I did not succumb. I will live for the country till my last breath. But I will continue to do my duty... I will do everything for my nation."

The CRPF jawan's mother said she was a bit scared when her son was posted on the border. However, she was proud of him for doing his duty properly.

"My son will continue to serve the country," asserted Vicky's father, while his brother said he was proud of hi.

Video clips of the CRPF trooper being heckled by youths during the April 9 election were uploaded on social media and kicked a row.

In the videos, the Kashmiri youngsters are seen slapping and kicking the jawan, who had a rifle in hand, in an attempt to evoke a sharp reaction from him.

Despite having weapons, the CRPF jawan showed the utmost restraint and chose to stay silent while walking down the street filled with the slogan-shouting mob.
