Instagram users can now disable comments; remove followers

New York: Giving users more control over comments on any post, Instagram has added long-requested Comment Control Feature.

"We’ll soon add a way to turn off comments on any post. Sometimes there may be moments when you want to let your post stand on its own. Previously this was only available for a small number of accounts," Instagram said in a blog post.

This feature was only available for a small number of accounts but in a few weeks, every user can avail this.

A user will have to tap "Advanced Settings" before posting and then select "Turn Off Commenting" option. It can be reversed any time after posting.

Instagram is also adding a feature in the coming weeks, where a user will have the ability to like comments by tapping a heart icon next to any comment.

The photo-sharing platform has also enabled a feature that lets private users to remove a follower.

Instagram will also let users anonymously report a post if they believe that someone may be thinking about injuring themselves.

"Going forward, if your account is private, you can remove followers by going to your list of followers and tapping the … menu next to any person’s name. The person will not be notified that you removed them as a follower," the Instagram blog further said.
