Viral Video: Woman Beaten, Paraded Naked In Rajasthan's Pratapgarh; CM Gehlot Reacts

In a shocking incident, a tribal woman in Rajasthan's Pratapgarh district was reportedly subjected to physical assault and publicly humiliated when she was forced to walk naked allegedly by her in-laws. The incident came to public attention after a video of the incident circulated widely, went viral. Director General of Police (DGP) Umesh Mishra confirmed that this disturbing event occurred on Thursday in Nichalkota village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Pahada Gram Panchayat and Dhariyavad police station in Pratapgarh district. Three people were held by the police after a tribal woman was allegedly beaten and paraded naked in Rajasthan's Pratapgarh district, said the police on Saturday.

The DGP said that the police came to know about the matter last evening after the video surfaced online. The victim had entered into marriage just a year ago. Her in-laws accused her of living with another man within the same village. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot strongly denounced the incident, assuring that swift action would be taken against the perpetrators. "In Pratapgarh district, a video of a woman being stripped naked by her in-laws has surfaced in a family dispute between Pihar and in-laws. The Director General of Police has been instructed to send ADG Crime on the spot and take strict action in this matter. There is no place for such criminals in a civilized society. These criminals will be put behind bars as soon as possible and punished after being prosecuted in a fast track court," said CM Gehlot on Twitter.

Giving details about the incident the DGP said, "The in-laws of the woman committed this heinous crime. They kidnapped her and took her to their village where the incident took place. They were annoyed as she had gone away somewhere else after the marriage."

Following her abduction, the woman endured physical assault from her husband, who subsequently stripped her and compelled her to walk approximately one kilometer through the village, according to the DGP. Furthermore, he revealed, "Certain women from the side of her in-laws were observed participating in the incident, and all individuals implicated in this matter will soon face arrest."

Mishra emphasized that swift action would be taken against the accused in the case, with Chief Minister Gehlot providing directives to ensure stringent measures against those responsible for the incident. Additional Director General of Police Dinesh MN will embark on an early morning visit to the scene tomorrow to conduct a thorough investigation, he added.

District Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Kumar said that six police teams have been formed to arrest the accused. Congress MLA, Dhariyawad Assembly, Pratapgarh, Nagraj Meena also condemned the incident. He also held a meeting with the District Collector and the District Superintendent of Police regarding the incident.

Rajasthan BJP leader and Chittorgarh MP CP Joshi also reacted to the incident and posted on 'X', "Today Rajasthan is again ashamed. The administration did not have a clue about this female atrocity incident in the lower quota of Pahada Gram Panchayat of Dhariyawad Tehsil of Pratapgarh district. This explains why Rajasthan is ranked 1 in rape and atrocities against women." (With ANI inputs)
