New Delhi: In a bid to lure the voter ahead of the state assembly polls Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday (January 3) promised various rewards for girls to help in their education and 8 free gas cylinders for homemakers.
"Congress will give Rs 5000 and Rs 15000 each to girl students on passing Class 5 and Class 10, respectively. We'll give Rs 20,000 to each girl student when she passes Class 12. To help girl students pursue higher studies, we'll give them computer tablets," said Sidhu
The state Congress chief also promised two-wheelers to girls taking admission in colleges for further studies.
Punjab Congress chief also promised Rs 2,000 per month for women homemakers if his party returns to power. Sidhu also promised eight free cooking gas cylinders to homemakers every year.
Sidhu made these announcements in a rally organised in Punjab's Barnala district. Addressing the rally, Sidhu made the promises while stressing the need for empowering women in the state.
