New Delhi: Congress will hold a key meeting today (April 25) to take a call on inducting election strategist Prashant Kishor into the grand old party, sources told ANI.
A committee constituting of senior Congress leaders has been formed to consider Prashant Kishor's proposal of joining the party. The panel will submit its report to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
The committee members KC Venugopal, Digvijaya Singh, Ambika Soni, Randeep Surjewala, Jairam Ramesh, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are present at 10 Janpath to hold the meeting with Sonia Gandhi, ANI reported.
The committee has given a green signal to the political strategist joining the party in its report, however, they have underlined that there should be no conflict wherever the Congress is fighting against the regional parties, IANS reported.
The Congress wants Prashant Kishor to solely work for the grand old party and end his previous commitments to other parties. The final decision on Kishor’s joining is likely to be made after consulting former party chief Rahul Gandhi, the news agency added.
Meanwhile, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Sunday signed a deal with the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), an organisation founded by Kishor.
TRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao told mediapersons that his party has hired I-PAC, adding that it has nothing to do with Kishor. "PK (as Kishor is popularly known) is the founder, but I don’t know who is running it. PK introduced us to I-PAC and it is working with us," IANS quoted him as saying.
He added that Kishor has disassociated himself from I-PAC, which is working with multiple parties across the country. "It's not just PK we had interactions with. We had multiple iterations of discussions with several others. We spoke to Sunil and others. I-PAC is what we narrowed down to,” Rao said.
