New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is known to be a disciplined and hard task master, is reportedly upset with his party colleagues for not attending the Parliament when it is in session.
PM Modi, while attending the BJP's Parliamentary meet on Tuesday, raised the issue of his MPs' absenteeism and asked them to be present inside Lok Sabha and Rajha Sabha while the proceedings are on, according to Zee Media.
Mincing no words, the Prime Minister warned his colleagues that if he finds any MP missing from the House for no reason, he would not hesitate in personally give them a call asking for explanation.
Unhappy with the regular absentees, the PM said that the BJP MPs, who are frequently found to be seated at the Central Hall of Parliament or somewhere else, should ensure that they mark their attendance by attending the proceedings in both the Houses.
PM Modi also expressed his unhappiness over some BJP MPs for not having in-depth knowledge of the important Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill.
Speaking to the BJP MPs, PM Modi stressed that he could help them win elections again, but he can't help them mark their attendance in Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha.
Modi ticked off parliamentarians after Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar spoke about incidents of lack of quorum in both the Houses, including yesterday, prompting the Prime Minister to say it should not be about requesting MPs to be present as it is their basic responsibility.
He recalled remarks of an RSS functionary that though the Hindutva organisation had spread far and wide, and its members had a lot of work to do but did not have time to attend shakha.
Likewise, MPs too seemed to have so much of work that they do not have time to attend Parliament, which should not be the case, he said.
