PM Narendra Modi today blasted Congress over multiple issues, saying that the states that once rejected the party never accepted them back again. PM Modi said that states like Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Jharkhand and Bihar never voted the Congress to power after rejecting them once.

"Nagaland voted for Congress 24 years ago, Odisha voted for you 27 years ago. You won with full majority in Goa 28 years ago," PM Narendra Modi said.  "In 1988, Tripura voted for Congress. West Benga voted for Congress in 1972. You take credit for creation of Telangana but the public did not accept you," PM Modi added.

He said the statements and the actions of the opposition party suggest that it has resigned itself to staying out of power for 100 years.

"We are firm believers in democracy. And we also believe that criticism is an essential part of democracy. But, blind opposition to everything is never the way ahead," Modi said while replying to the debate on the president's address to the joint sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

The Prime Minister further slammed Congress and Aam Aadmi Party for allegedly creating panic and triggering migrants crisis during the first Covid wave.  "There's a party in Delhi that sent its vehicles in slums, and said that there's a big crisis, run," PM Modi said.

During the first wave, when people were following lockdown guidelines suggesting that they stay where they are, the Congress was standing at Mumbai station and scaring innocent people, he said.

"The question is not about elections it is about intentions. Despite being in power for 50 years why are the people of the country repeatedly rejecting them. Wherever people have taken the right path, they did not allow you to enter again," he said. The prime minster said the way India handled pandemic is an example for the world.

He 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' is the perfect time to think about how India can play a global leadership role in the coming years.

PM Narendra Modi further said that Congress is a party that doesn't seem to introspect even after so many defeats.

"Question is not about the election result. But you don`t seem to retrospect. Why is it that despite all the electoral losses, it seems you are not ready to give up your arrogance. Also, your ecosystem does not allow you to let it go," he said in a direct attack on Rahul Gandhi`s criticism.

Then Modi recited a couplet in Urdu.

"Criticism is an ornament of live democracy, but blind opposition is disrespect to democracy," Modi said.

Modi also said some people were waiting that coronavirus will damage his image, which was all out of opposition to Modi. "It seems you have decided not to come back to power for 100 years. But now that you have decided it, I too am prepared for it."
