RLJP Chief Pashupati Paras Resigns From Modi Cabinet Amidst Bihar Seat Allocation Snub

New Delhi: Union Minister Pashupati Paras stepped down from his position in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet on Tuesday after his party, the RLJP, did not receive any seat allocations in the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar, Zee News Television reported quoting sources. The move comes after the NDA's declaration of seat allocation in Bihar on Monday, with the BJP slated to compete for 17 Lok Sabha seats, the JDU for 16 seats, the LJP for 5 seats, and one seat each designated for Hindustani Awam Morcha and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.

Upon resigning from his position as Union minister, Paras told PTI, "I have served the NDA with complete sincerity. I express my gratitude to PM Modi. Nonetheless, I feel that both myself and our party have been subjected to injustice. Consequently, I am stepping down from my role as Union minister."

Earlier, Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras alleged the BJP of unfair treatment towards his LJP faction. He previously suggested the possibility of leaving the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), emphasising the freedom to form alliances with any party as "doors are open".

The minister aimed to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from multiple seats in Bihar, including Hajipur, which were not allocated to him in the NDA's seat-sharing agreement, sparking disagreement with nephew Chirag Paswan.
