Pakistan violates ceasefire along LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, injures two civilians

At least two civilians were injured when Pakistan on Saturday violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. The firing took place in Nambla area of Uri sector.

At least two civilians were injured when Pakistan on Saturday violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. The firing took place in Nambla and Rustum posts of Haji peer of Rampur area in Uri sector.

The Pakistani Rangers at 9.30 am started shelling mortar, light arms and ammunition. The Indian Army retaliated. The intermediate firing is still going on. 

Villagers living in Nambla and Hajipeer sector got affected to the ceasefire as panic gripped in these villages and people were seen running for cover said a local resident of the area. 

An official said, “This morning Pakistani rangers resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation which was retaliated to by the India Army."
He said Pakistani Rangers violated the ceasefire and targeted the forward post of Indian Army along the LoC.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Baramulla Abdul Qayoom said, “Pakistan violated ceasefire in Nambla in Uri sector. Two civilians were injured in mortar shelling by Pakistan. Indian Army retaliated. It started at 9.30 am when Pakistan started shelling mortar light arms ammunition towards the Indian side and intermediate firing is still on.”

This is the sixth ceasefire violation by Pakistan in the last 10 days. Earlier, the Indian posts and civilian area in Churunda, Kamalkot, Hajipeer in Uri and Tangdaar, Keran and Machaail area of Kupwara in areas they got a strong retaliation by Indian army and several posts were destroyed.
