Parliament live: Pragya Thakur reads out second apology in House, says 'didn't take Godse name'

BJP MP Pragya Thakur on Friday issued a second apology in Lok Sabha over her controversial remark regarding Nathuram Godse, this time reading out what was agreed by all parties. The firebrand BJP leader, however, clarified that she had not used Nathuram Godse name during the discussion on SPG Bill. Her first apology in Lok Sabha was rejected by the Opposition parties who said that it was a condition one. Thakur had said that she too has been called a 'terrorist' despite that there has been no evidence against her in the court. Her first apology in the House had triggered an uproar and walkout from the assembly by Opposition parties. 

Later, Speaker Om Birla convened an meeting of floor leaders of political parties to end an impasse in Lok Sabha over Pragya Thakur's remark.

Pragya Thakur tenders unconditional apology in Lok Sabha over her statement on Nathuram Godse, says, "On Novembr 27, during the discussion on Special Protection Group (Amendment) Bill, 2019, I did not call Nathuram Godse a 'deshbhakt'. I did not even mention his name. I apologise again if I have hurt any sentiments.''
