In the Malad area of Mumbai today, a portion of a building collapsed amid heavy rains. Some people were trapped in this mishap. The Fire Brigade officials reached the spot and rescued atleast 4 people. The rescue exercise is still on to save more people trapped inside the debris.

Rains in Mumbai throughout the night, leading to extremely heavy falls at isolated places till 6.30 am records Bandra 201, Col 152, Santacruz 159.4, Mahalaxmi 129, Ram Mandir 130 mm since yesterday 8.30 am, says K S Hosalikar Dy Director General of India Met Department, Mumbai.

Till now heavy rainfall at a few places with isolated very heavy falls over Mumbai.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to continue over Mumbai and at isolated places during next 12 hours.

Under the influence of strong lower level wind convergence along the West coast and east-west shear zone in mid tropospheric levels. Enhanced rainfall activity over the region is expected till July 16 with significant reduction thereafter, the IMD predicted in its bulletin on Wednesday.

The regional Met centre has predicted a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain very likely in city and suburbs. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 30 and a minimum of 26 degrees Celcius in Mumbai for the next 48 hours.
