A man identified as Aditya Rao on Wednesday (January 22) surrendered before police at Halsuru police station in Bangalore in connection with planting bomb at Mangalore airport on Monday (January 20). The police said that we will have to verify the claim of Rao because he appears to be mentally unstable.

The Attorney General told the court that some 140 petitions have been filed out of which only 60 have been reported to the government. Kapil Sibal said that the matter should be sent to the Constitution Bench for hearing.

Hearing on CAA will start in Court no 1 of the Supreme Court shortly. As many as 144 petitions are to be heard. Most of the pleas filed challenge the law while there are two in favour of the law.

Meanwhile, voting for the nine municipal corporations and 120 municipalities in Telangana will be held today (January 22). The total municipal wards in the 129 ULBs are 2,727 while there are 325 divisions in the nine municipal corporations. 

Polling began at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm. The results will be declared on January 25.

Hearing on CAA in SC will be at around 10.40 am, its listed fourth on the apex court's list. The petitions will be heard by a three-judge SC bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde, Justice S Abdul Nazeer and Justice Sanjiv Khanna.
