The Congress on Wednesday approached the Supreme Court against Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala's invitation to BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa to form the government in the state. The Congress filed the petition in the apex court registry almost around midnight.

Hitting out at the BJP, Congress said that the party will look for legal options if they are not invited to form the government. "Stealing of MLAs shouldn't be allowed. No governor can go against Constitution. We can't tell you whom we'll approach and whom not. At this juncture, we've complete faith in Guv that he'll go by Constitution and not party politics," Ghulam Nabi Azad said.

The Congress has alleged that they have been trying to reach out to the Governor but they have not got a chance to meet them. "Since 12-12.30 pm we are seeking an appointment with Governor so we can handover our two letters - 1 of legislator party of Congress another of legislator party of JD(S). We haven't received any message from Governor so far. We are waiting eagerly," Congress veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad said.
