With 3460 new COVID-19 cases, Delhi tally reaches 77240

India on Friday (June 26, 2020) saw its highest single-day spike in coronavirus cases with 17,296 new cases being reported. The number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in India has crossed 4.90 lakh.

India on Friday (June 26, 2020) saw its highest single-day spike in coronavirus cases with 17,296 new cases being reported. The number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in India has crossed 4.90 lakh.

As per the Union health ministry, as of 9 am on June 26, the number of Covid-19 cases in India stands at 4,90,401 including 1,89,463 active cases, 2,85,637 cured/discharged/migrated and 15301 deaths.

Among states, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are the hotspots for Covid-19 cases. Maharashtra and Gujarat have also reported the highest number of Covid-19 deaths, accounting for nearly 60 percent of the country's COVID-19 toll.

The first COVID-19 case in India was reported on January 30 in Kerala.

In the last 24 hours, Delhi records 3,460 new cases, 2,326 recoveries and 63 deaths. The total cases stands at 77,240, total recoveries at 47,091 and deaths at 2492. The total number of active cases stand at 27,657 and patients in home isolation are 16,249. In the last 24 hours, 21,114 tests were done in the national capital.

West Bengal reports highest single-day spike in new COVID-19 cases. In the last 24 hrs, 542 new cases and 10 deaths were reported. As of now, there are 5,039 active cases and 16,190 total cases in the state. Total deaths reported in the state stands at 616 and total discharged at 10,535.

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has started conducting random coronavirus tests for its crew members after 16 employees contracted the pathogen in the past fortnight. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on COVID-19 situation: We have permission to conduct plasma therapy at LNJP and Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality hospitals. Since the start of plasma therapy at LNJP hospital, the number of deaths has reduced to less than half as compared to earlier. There are some patients whose oxygen level became very low but they showed no symptoms, it dropped suddenly and they died suddenly. So we have provided oxymeter to asymptomatic patients or those with mild symptoms who are under home isolation.

COVID19 cases in Delhi are mild and most of them don't require hospitalisation. Right now, we have over 13,000 beds ready.
