Sports: Three days after Krunal Pandya tested positive for COVID-19, it has come to light that spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and K Gowtham have also tested positive for the virus in Sri Lanka.Speaking to ANI, sources in the know of developments confirmed that the duo have tested positive for COVID-19. "Unfortunately, they have tested positive. They were close contacts of Krunal and were already away from the rest of the squad in the team hotel," the source said.
Krunal Pandya tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday and eight Indian players -- Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Chahar, Manish Pandey, Ishan Kishan, and K Gowtham were identified as close contacts.

India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged citizens to share their inputs for his Independence Day speech on August 15, saying their thoughts will reverberate from the ramparts of the Red Fort.
In a tweet, he asked people to provide their inputs on MyGov, a citizen engagement platform. It said, "Similarly, this year too the Prime Minister invites citizens to contribute their inputs for New India. So, now you have the opportunity to tell your ideas, give word to your suggestions and crystallize your vision. PM Narendra Modi will pick up some of the ideas in his speech on 15th August."

India: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday will introduce two Bills in the Rajya Sabha -- amendment to Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008 and Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation Act, 1961. The opposition, however, will continue reinforcing its demands on the Pegasus snooping issue, inflation and farm laws.
The RS Bulletin stated: "FM Nirmala Sitharaman to introduce a Bill to amend the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008 -- The Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill, 2021, and The Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2021."

India: The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear next week the plea of senior journalists N Ram and Sashi Kumar seeking an inquiry headed by a sitting or retired judge of the apex court to investigate into the reports of the government using Israeli software Pegasus to spy on politicians, activists, and journalists. A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana said the court will hear the plea next week after senior advocate Kapil Sibal for the petitioners mentioned the matter for urgent hearing.Sibal said that civil liberties of citizens, politicians belonging to opposition parties, journalists, etc. have been put under surveillance, and the issue is making waves in India and world over and requires an urgent hearing.

Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain over some parts of Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan during the next two hours. "Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of isolated places South, Southwest Delhi, Hissar, Narwana, Fatehabad, Adampur, Mahendergarh, Charkhidadri, Narnaul, Kosli, Tosham, Mehem, Hansi, Bhiwani (Haryana)," IMD said in its tweet at 8 am.

Karnataka: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday informed that the state government is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation following a spurt in cases in Kerala. Speaking to ANI, Bommai, who arrived at the Delhi airport earlier today, said he has asked the officials to be on alert.
"There has been a spurt of COVID cases in Kerala and we have three border districts. We have talked to Deputy Commissioners to be on alert and make stringent measures. They have been asked to prepare medical facilities," he said. "I will have a detailed meeting on this matter once I go back," the Chief Minister said.

Jammu and Kashmir: Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday informed that suspected drones were spotted at three different places in the Samba district. While speaking to ANI, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba Rajesh Sharma said, "Drone activities were suspected at three different areas of Samba district, last night.
"The Border Security Force (BSF) also issued a statement that said, "Some unidentified lights were seen in the sky near the international border in the Samba sector. Few rounds were fired on it and the lights disappeared."

India: India reported on Friday 44,230 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide tally of infections to 3.15 crores, as per the Union Health Ministry data. As many as 555 deaths have been overnight taking the overall tally to 423,217 fatalities.
The active cases in the country is at 4,05,155 while the total recoveries crosses 3,07,43,972. Active cases constitute 1.28% of total cases. The weekly Positivity Rate remains below 5%, currently it is at 2.43%. Daily positivity rate at 2.44%, remains below 5%.
