Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday inspected the rain-affected areas in Chennai and distributed essential items to the needy people. According to the Chief Minister`s Office (CMO), Stalin distributed relief material and food to the needy people in Royapuram and harbour areas of rain-affected Chennai city. Meanwhile, the state government has also appointed nodal officers in 15 zones to review the situation in ChennaiState health minister Ma Subramanian informed that people living in low lying areas are advised to move to government shelters more than 1 lakh needy people were provided food.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has ordered an inquiry into an unfortunate incident of fratricide in which a constable of the paramilitary wing allegedly killed four of his colleagues and injured three others by shooting them in Chhattisgarh`s Sukma district early on Monday.
The CRPF ordered the inquiry into the incident "to ascertain the cause of the incident and suggest remedial measures". The incident took place at about 3.25 am on Monday in which Constable Reetesh Ranjan of CRPF`s 50 Battalion opened fire on his company personnel in which four were killed and three others got injured. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the matter related to the October 3 Lakhimpur Kheri incident today, in which eight people, including four farmers, were killed in violence during a farmers' protest. A bench comprising Chief Justice N V Ramana and justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli would hear the matter in which the Supreme Court had on October 26 directed the Uttar Pradesh government to provide protection to witnesses under the Witness Protection Scheme, 2018.

The incessant rainfall in Chennai has forced the city to come to a standstill. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has declared a two-day holiday for schools and colleges in Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu districts from Monday till Tuesday.
The Chief Minister called upon the people to hold their travel plans as the weathermen have predicted heavy rains for the next three days. He said that officials have been put on high alert and all the state government departments are working in coordination with each other.
