New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday (August 5, 2021) offered prayers to Ram Lalla at Ram Janmabhoomi site in Ayodhya. Today marks the first anniversary of the Ram temple Bhoomi pujan. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (August 5, 2021) will interact with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana through video conferencing at 1 PM. Almost 15 crore beneficiaries of Uttar Pradesh have been getting free ration through this Yojana.

Two years ago, today, Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two Union territories. August 5, 2021 marks the second anniversary of the historic decision of abolishing Article 370 and 35(A) that gave the erstwhile state its special status. 

The Samajwadi Party is all set to launch a 'Cycle Yatra' in all districts of Uttar Pradesh today to highlight the issue of the price hike. "On directions of the party president Akhilesh Yadav, SP will take out Samajwadi Cycle Yatra at the tehsil level in all the districts on August 5 on the birth anniversary of party leader Janeshwar Mishra. This yatra will cover 5 to 10 kilometres," said Rajendra Chaudhary, Samajwadi Party chief spokesperson.

Lok Sabha: Ahead of the commencement of Lok Sabha at 11 am on Thursday after being adjourned for the day on Wednesday, Congress MP Manish Tewari today gave adjournment motion notice in the Lower House over the `Pegasus Project` issue.

Tewari in his notice said, "Reports have pointed out that the Government of India has procured the surveillance tool Pegasus developed by Israeli company NSO Group for surveillance of Journalists, Civil Society Activists, Politicians and Supreme Court Judges. Since the NSO group`s policy is that clients are confined to "vetted governments" only it suggests that the spyware was used by the Government of India and not any other private body.

India saw a single day rise of 42,982 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,18,12,114, while the active cases increased to 4,11,076, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday. The death toll climbed to 4,26,290 with 533 fresh fatalities. 

The active cases comprise 1.29 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.37 per cent, the data updated at 8 am showed.
An increase of 723 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. (PTI)

World: Fully vaccinated passengers from India will no longer be subjected to compulsory 10-day hotel quarantine as the UK moved the country from its "red" to "amber" list. Under Britain's traffic light system for international travel, returning from amber list countries means a 10-day quarantine at home.

"The UAE, Qatar, India and Bahrain will be moved from the red list to the amber list. All changes come into effect Sun 8th August at 4 am," UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps tweeted.
