Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Monday launched a veiled attack on MP Navneet Rana and MLA Ravi Rana and asked them to recite Hanuman Chalisa at their homes.

BJP questions Uddhav Thackeray's absence from all-party meet
After skipping the all-party meeting called by state Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil on Monday, Leader of the Opposition in Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis said that he didn`t attend the meet in view of the recent incidents of alleged violence that took place against the BJP leaders in the state.
Fadnavis alleged that the state government has "taken the role of Hitler" and therefore the BJP will "fight instead of communicating".

Mumbai police acting like 'servants' of Maharashtra govt: Fadnavis tells Centre after Somaiya 'attack'
Alleging that the Mumbai Police was not taking the "attack" on BJP leader Kirit Somaiya over the weekend allegedly by Shiv Sainiks seriously, Maharashtra opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis has written a letter to the Union Home Secretary claiming the city force was acting as the "servants" of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.
In the letter to Union Home secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, dated April 24, Fadnavis urged him to take cognisance of "deteriorating law and order" in the state and the "trampling upon" of the basic rights of the opposition leaders and sought strict action in the matter.

Bombay HC rejects Rana couple's plea to quash second FIR
The Bombay High Court on Monday dismissed a plea filed by independent MP-MLA couple Navneet Rana and her husband Ravi Rana, respectively, seeking to quash the second of two FIRs registered against them for resisting arrest on Saturday after a huge row over their plans to recite Hanuman Chalisa outside the private home of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

BJP boycotts Maharashtra home dept's all-party meeting over Navneet Rana's arrest
The BJP on Monday boycotted the all-party meeting called by the Maharashtra Home department to discuss directives on the use of loudspeakers at religious places and questioned whether state Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil has the authority to decide on it when the chief minister is not present.

LS secretariat seeks details on Rana's charges against police
The Lok Sabha Secretariat on Monday sought details from the Maharashtra government within 24 hours following allegations made by independent MP Navneet Rana against the state police after her arrest, sources said.
Charged with sedition, Rana in a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that her arrest by the Mumbai Police was illegal and alleged "inhuman treatment" in custody.

Bombay HC refuses to quash FIR against MP Navneet Rana
The Bombay High Court on Monday dismissed a petition moved by Lok Sabha MP Navneet Rana and her husband MLA Ravi Rana for quashing the FIR registered against them for allegedly assaulting the police officer who came to arrest the couple.
The police took the action against the couple after they threatened to recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray`s private residence in Mumbai.

Former Mumbai mayor arrested for attack on Kirit Somaiya
Former Mumbai Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar has been arrested by Mumbai Police in connection with an attack on BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, said Mumbai Police.
The BJP leader alleged that he was attacked by Shiv Sena workers after he went to meet Navneet Rana and her husband in Bandra jail after their arrest.
