Cabinet approves the continuation of Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) (SBM-U) till 2025-26 for sustainable outcomes. The financial outlay of ₹1,41,600 crores for SBM-U 2.0 is 2.5 times more than the first phase of the mission.
SBM-U 2.0 targets complete elimination of open defecation, including fecal sludge management in all cities with less than 1 lakh population. Eradication of hazardous entry into sewers and septic tanks; no untreated wastewater to pollute water bodies.

Ahead of the G20 summit, Afghanistan`s foreign minister appealed to the world for good relations but avoided making firm commitments on girls` education despite international demands to allow all Afghan children to go back to school. "The international community need to start cooperating with us," acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said at an event. Heavy rains lashed Bengaluru city on Monday bringing the city to a standstill, the heavy rainfall caused a flood-like situation across several areas in the city, including the Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL). The IMD has predicted more rains, thunderstorm and lighting for the city. Heavy rains will continue over Coastal and South Interior Karnataka till 15 October, the weather department warned.
