NEW DELHI: A GoAir flight, with 168 persons on board, was forced to make an emergency landing at Kolkata airport Thursday due to a technical glitch.
Delhi-bound GoAir flight G8 -102 departed from Kolkata's Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport at 2:20 pm. After the pilot observed a technical glitch, turned back to Kolkata airport.
"Flight G8 102 from Kolkata to Delhi did a “precautionary” air turn back shortly after takeoff owing to a technical glitch," said GoAir in a release.
"After turn back, the flight landed safely at Netaji Subhash Chandra International airport in Kolkata with 168 passengers on board. Upon landing, all passengers were transferred to an alternate aircraft and departed for Delhi. The earlier aircraft has been put back into service following an inspection and rectification by the GoAir engineering team," it added.
The pilot manoeuvred the aircraft safely and made an emergency landing around 2:30 PM.
In June this year, GoAir flight G8 586 was flying from Patna to Mumbai when a technical glitch forced it to make an emergency landing in Aurangabad.
In February, another Kolkata-bound GoAir flight was forced to turn back to Ahmedabad after suffering mid-air technical snag on Wednesday. The plane, which had 185 passengers on board, made a safe emergency landing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
