Shimla: Intense cold wave conditions eased in lower hills of Himachal Pradesh today as minimum temperatures rose by a few notches across the state.
The high altitude tribal areas and mountain passes experienced mild snowfall and recorded minimum temperature between minus 8 and minus 12 degrees Celsius.
Una in Shiwalik foothills recorded maximum and minimum temperatures at 29.6 and 13.7 degrees Celsius.
The region experienced a warmer day as the mercury rose to 26.6 and 26.2 degrees Celsius at Sundernagar and Bhuntar, respectively, followed by Solan 24.0, Nahan 22.6, Shimla 19.2, Dharamsala 18.8, Manali 16.2 and Kalpa 13.0 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature also rose by a few notches and Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur districts recorded a low of minus 2.6 and 0.6 degree Celsius, followed by Manali 4.4, Bhuntar 8.0, Sundernagar 9.0, Dharamsala and Shimla 9.6, Solan 11.0, Nahan 11.8, Palampur 12.8 and Una 13.7 degrees Celsius.
The local MeT office has predicted rain or snow at higher and mid hills over the next four days as another Western Disturbance lies over the region that would affect the Himalayan region.
The gradual rise in temperature after prolonged wet spell and cold wave was considered good for Rabi crop and apple cultivation and reduced the threat of "yellow rust" in wheat.
