New Delhi: A flag meeting was held between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Pakistan Rangers at the International Boundary in J&K's Samba sector on Monday amid an intense cross-border shelling.

At Pakistan Rangers' request, a commandant-wing commander level flag meeting was held between the BSF and the Pakistan border guarding force, a senior Border Security Force official said.

During the meeting, commanders of both sides discussed various issues including the recent "unprovoked" firing in Samba Sector and other routine issues related to border management, he said.

India's top Army brass today conveyed a stern message to Pakistan that it reserves the right to retaliate appropriately against any incident of ceasefire violation along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a telephonic conversation, Lt. Gen. A K Bhatt, the director general of military operations (DGMO), also told his Pakistani counterpart that the Indian Army was sincere about maintaining peace on the LoC.

In the flag meet, it was decided to re-energise instant communication between field commanders, whenever required, to resolve petty matters, the BSF official said.

"They committed to each other to maintain peace and? tranquility at the International Border," the official added.
