New Delhi, Nov 27: Indian Council of Agricultural Research will soon bring out the latest edition of its much sought after publication - Handbook of Agriculture.
"The latest edition would be published within next two months," ICAR director general Mangala Rai said in a written communique to Confederation of Indian Farmers' Association.
The confederation recently pointed out that the contents of the useful handbook had not been revised since 1980, while going for reprint 10-time, the latest being in February 2005.
Clarifing ICAR stand on the reprint issue to the farmers' body general secretary P Chengal Reddy, the ICAR DG said: "we are at the final stages of a new edition running to about 1,400 pages."
ICAR is working hard to ensure that the updated version is available in the next two months, Rai said.
Acknowledging that handbook was initially published about 25 years back, he said the number of reprints were brought thereafter due to heavy demand of the publication.
The ICAR's handbook came under sharp attack from various farmers' bodies who considered the contents of the handbook to be back dated as most of information including data included in the book pertains to the 1970s and earlier period.
