New York, July 25: Tina Turner and Phil Collins have signed on to record music for Walt Disney Pictures' upcoming "Brother Bear." Turner will perform "Great Spirits" as the opening song of the animated film's soundtrack, due Oct. 21 on Walt Disney Records.

Turner's previous original film music includes the title song to the 1995 James Bond film "GoldenEye." She also had hits with "We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)" and "One of the Living" from the 1985 movie "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome," in which she co-starred with Mel Gibson.

Turner, who announced her retirement from touring in 2000, has not released a new album since 1999's "Twenty Four Seven."

Collins will provide five new songs for "Brother Bear," in addition to co-writing the film's score with Mark Mancina.

Collins previously collaborated with Disney on the 1999 animation film "Tarzan" for which his hit song, "You'll Be in My Heart," won several awards, including an Oscar and a Golden Globe. The titles of Collins' "Brother Bear" songs are to be determined.

"Brother Bear" is scheduled to open Oct. 24 in New York and Los Angeles, and will get a wider release Nov. 1 in U.S. theaters. The film, about a boy who turns into a bear, will feature the voices of Joaquin Phoenix and Michael Clarke-Duncan as well as "SCTV" all-stars Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas.
