Mumbai, April 25: Akshay Kumar is angry these days. Although the star had apologized for his allegedly ‘obscene unbuttoning act’ at Lakme Fashion Week, he is still in the line of fire and faces arrest after return from South Africa, where he is busy completing his television series.
Reacting to the backlash, the action superstar said to a news daily, “Why is there so much interest in one button on my jeans when there are so many really critical problems facing the country including the Lok Sabha elections.”
Akshay believes that unnecessary hue and cry is being made over a trivial issue. Brushing aside the obscenity complaint filed with the Vakola police by a citizen, the actor said, “It was nothing. Last year, too, a girl opened one button on my jeans as part of an endorsement because the campaign signified freedom. This time it was my wife. It was not a last-minute improvisation on the ramp. It was all part of the act. In a country hit by poverty and economic recession, someone makes an issue about my wife unbuttoning my jeans! They should appreciate the fact that I asked Twinkle rather than a stranger.”
Akshay firmly believes that he deserves appreciation for being the highest taxpayer rather than face arrest. “Here I am being declared the highest taxpayer by the government. Isn’t it strange that the same government thought of arresting me instead of appreciating the hard work that went into adding some money into its coffers?”
