Spanish versions of Tagore's famous works at Kolkata Book Fair

New Delhi, Nov 18: Spanish versions of famous works of Rabindranath Tagore will be highlight of the upcoming Annual Kolkata International Book Fair which will also showcase literary collections from various other countries.

The 12-day fair beginning on January 25 and having Spain as the theme country, will unveil Tagore's works translated by Spanish writers Juan Ramon Jimenez and Zenobia Cambrubi.

Spain has been chosen as the theme country with an aim of enhancing the cultural relations with that country, president of publishers and booksellers Guild Kalyan Shah said here today.

The fair will attempt to showcase the Indian cultural richness to Spanish-speaking people across the world besides providing a forum to interact with Indian audience.

Among other programmes, Spanish artists will be reciting poems along with telling stories related to Spain history and culture, counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission Cristina Fraile said.

Shah said the fair "fully represents the cultural richness of the city besides acting as a democratic event for people from every part of the world."

The fair will have participation from Britain, France, Germany, Sweden, European Union, group of 14 Latin American countries, Bangladesh and Ireland for the first time in the fair, Shah said.

The 31st Kolkata Book Fair will also have wide range of diversity like children complex, montemartes (artists village).
