Puducherry, June 6: The Sankararaman murder case in which the Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi is the prime accused was today adjourned to July 16 by a court on Wednesday.
Principal District and Sessions Judge M Chinnapandi passed the order adjourning the case when it camp up for hearing this morning in view of the pendency of a petition in Supreme Court challenging the continuation of Tamil Nadu Public Prosecutor even after the case was transferred.
Of the 24 accused, only 13 were present at the court on Wednesday.
The Sankaracharya and his junior Vijayendra Saraswathi were among those who were absent.
Sankararaman, manager of a temple in Kancheepuram, was murdered by a gang inside the temple in September, 2004.
