The world premiere of Subhash Ghai's period film 'Kisna' would be held at the festival. "Ghai was planning to hold the premiere either in Mumbai or London but we met the director with a request to hold the premiere during the International Film Festival here to which he agreed", MP Suresh Kalmadi, the festival chairman told reporters here yesterday.

The proceeds from the premiere would go to Chief Minister's Relief Fund for Tsunami victims, Kalmadi said.

Lifetime achievement awards would be presented to veteran actress Waheeda Rehman and director Shakti Samanta during the festival, he said.

Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna would inaugurate the festival while union Information and Broadcasting Minister Jaipal Reddy, would present the lifetime achievement awards on January 16, he said, adding, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh would be present at the closing ceremony on January 20.

Over 100 films would be shown during the festival while 21 films have been selected in the competitive section.

India's entry to Oscar `Shwaas' will be screened against its Oscar competitors `Earth and Ashes' and `Yesterday' in the world cinema competition.
