New Delhi, May 09: In a major turnaround LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan on Saturday said that he and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav would support the Congress only if Sonia Gandhi invites them to join the next government.

Taking a tough stand Paswan said, “Lalu and I’ll will meet and sit with the Congress if Soniaji invites us.”

Clarifying his stand on the ‘pre-poll’ alliance, Paswan said they had already made it clear that any pre-poll alliance was not possible, adding they would lend their support only after the election results are out.

Commenting on the issue of going alone in Bihar the LJP chief said that the three parties including Lalu’s RJD, Mulayam Singh’s Samajwadi Party and his own LJP had at the start made it clear that their first objective was to oust the NDA from Bihar and keep BJP out of Uttar Pradesh.

Apparently angry with the Congress for praising their political rival Nitish Kumar, Union ministers Lalu Yadav and Ram Vilas Paswan had given a miss to yesterday’s Cabinet meet at the PM’s residence.

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi had ruffled
feathers of allies LJP and RJD by praising JD(U) leader and
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday.
