No post-poll alliance between AIADMK, Congress: Azad

Congress general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad Saturday reiterated there is no talk of an alliance between the party and AIADMK after elections.

Chennai, May 09: Congress general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad Saturday reiterated there is no talk of an alliance between the party and AIADMK after elections.
"It has been nowhere said that the Congress is going to have a post-poll alliance with the AIADMK," Azad, the AICC general secretary in-charge of Tamil Nadu, told a news channel here.

The AIADMK`s archrival, DMK, is part of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government at the centre.

Azad echoed Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram`s stand that ruled out any post-poll tieup with the J. Jayalalitha`s AIADMK in Tamil Nadu.

"The Congress differs with Jayalalitha on all important issues and she cannot be accepted as an ally ever. Her objective is not to contribute to the formation of a future central government but to topple the Tamil Nadu government," Chidambaram had said Friday.
