Noida/New Delhi: In another twist in the Aarushi murder case, a person named Jeetendra has claimed that the police recovered the deceased school girl’s missing mobile from him and not from Rambhool, as claimed by the police.
Talking to Zee News, Jeetendra said that the police had recovered the phone from him and coerced him to keep his mouth shut. He also accused the police of beating him and threatening to harass his family.
However, the investigating agency, CBI, has been maintaining a studied silence over the recovery of the mobile phone by Delhi Police`s Crime Branch from a town in Uttar Pradesh.
CBI spokesperson Harsh Bahal declined to confirm or deny whether the premier investigating agency had got the mobile from Delhi Police. The instrument that could give some clues has been missing since the sensational double murder in Noida.
The cellphone bearing the International Mobile Equipment Identity IMEI), same as Aarushi`s Nokia N-72, was recovered from from one Ramphool, a class IV government employee, in Khurja locality of Bulandshahr on Saturday after it tracked down the phone, which was under its surveillance, 16 months after the girl and her domestic help Hemraj were found murdered in her Noida home.
During questioning, the official said, Ramphool told them that he got the phone from his sister Kusum who in turn said she picked it up from a park in Sector 37 of Noida soon after Aarushi`s murder. Kusum was also understood to have been taken to Bulandshahr by police to recover the phone.
"He was questioned and he has no role in the murder of Aarushi but we feel that the phone could provide some details leading to solving the case," sources said.
"Kusum (her sister) found a mobile lying in a park. She took it with her and returned home. She kept the mobile for two months but no one came looking for it. She then gave it to Ramphool," another sister, Santosh, said.
Santosh said Ramphool "kept it for one month and then switched it on," and added that they confirmed from their sister Kusum as to where she got it from.
However, the CBI released Rambhool and his sister Kusum after interrogation.
The emergence of Jeetendra and the CBI releasing Rambhool and Kusum, points to the fact that more evidence needs to be unearthed to nab the real killers of Aarushi.
