Jo’burg: Indian cricket coach Gary Kirsten, on Friday, hit out at sections of media for reporting that he advocated ‘an active sex life’ to cricketers as one of the performance boosters.

A miffed Kirsten demanded an apology for the newspaper that first carried the news, saying that he was deeply disturbed by the reports.

“"My Family and I have been deeply offended and hurt by the many allegations that I encouraged the Indian players to engage in sexual activity before a match,” Kirsten told Zeenews exclusively.

“The leaked article was compiled by Mr Paddy Upton and provides information for the players on the relationship between sexual activity and sports performance. I never wrote the article and read it for the first time 2 days ago,” he said.
He reiterated that he had never advised any player on their sex lives.

“I would like to state that I have never ..and I repeat , never encouraged or told the team or any player to engage in any form of sexual activity....These allegations are absolutely not true and completely against my religious and moral beliefs.”

He also clarified that sex would never be a part of the team stratergy ever.

“It has never been and never will be part of team strategy. I have been deeply disturbed by these allegations and wish to focus my allegation on helping the Team India have a successful Champions Trophy."

Kirsten was rumored to have offered an interesting advice to the country’s cricketers, urging them to boost their sex lives, which he feels would spur their on-field performances!

Apparently a secret document circulated among players by Kirsten and mental conditioning expert Upton, is believed to have extensively explored the benefits of sex.

"Yes it (sex) does, so go ahead and indulge," the document said, before detailing the benefits of a good sex life.

The issue had provoked good laughs from all captains when they were asked for their opinion on this issue.

India, one of the title contenders, kick start their Champions Trophy campaign tomorrow against Pakistan.
