Nagapattinam, Jan 07: After suffering heavy damage
due to the Tsunami disaster, the Nagapattinam Port has become
operational, a top state government official said.
A hub for exporting cement to Sri Lanka and importing
edible oil from Indonesia and Malaysia, the port has been
repaired and was ready for operation, Commissioner for Tsunami
victims' relief, Santha Sheela Nair, told reporters here last
night.
However, it would take some more time for making the
barges in the port operational, she said.
