Na not in the least a bad loser

Sania said she had learnt her lessons from that loss and put them into play yesterday.

Doha, Dec 13: Sania said she had learnt her lessons from that loss and put them into play yesterday.

"I knew I had to attack her strong forehand. The wind also forced me to change my play when we changed sides," she said.

"I had to keep the momentum in the second set because a ranked player like Na could fight back any time. I had played her once earlier but had lost. It was a big match, one of the better matches I have played."

Na was humble in defeat.

"I am not thinking about missing out on a gold medal. She played really well and there was nothing I could do about it," she said.

"I felt as though the ball was coming off my racket really well. But she played really well and deserved to win."

Sania will now clash with second seeded Zheng Jie of China in the final today. Zheng defeated Japan's third seeded Aiko Nakamura 6-3 6-2 in the other semifinal.

The Hyderabadi girl started off with a flourish by breaking Na in the first and fifth games of the first set which lasted 29 minutes.

The first set debacle put more pressure on the Chinese who could not lift her game in the second set as well, being broken in the third and fifth games to bow of the singles event in a rather anti-climatic manner.

In the end, it was the 27 unforced errors and three double faults by Na which proved costly for her.

Since landing in Doha, Sania has not conceded a set in her singles encounters yet.
