Kozhikode, Nov 29: Well-known Malayalam novelist M Mukundan has been chosen for this year's `Mathurbhumi Literary Award' for his outstanding contribution in the field.
The award would carry Rs two lakh in cash and a citation, Mathrubhumi Chairman and Managing Director, M P Veerendrakumar, MP, told a press conference here today.
A three-member jury with K T Mohammed as its chairman and Kakkanadan and M N Karasseri as members, selected Mukundan for the sixth edition of the award, regarded the most prestigious literary award in the state.
The award would be presented at a function here next month, date for which would be decided in consultation with the awardee, Veerendrakumar said.
Mathrubhumi Managing Editor, P V Chandran and M V Shreyam Kumar, MLA, were also present on the occasion.
