Mumbai, Feb 02: Often flaked for basking on her leading man’s glory and hard work, Katrina Kaif has decided to prove her acting mettle and shoo off all critics who perceive her as just another pretty face. The long legged lass, who has been touted as an industry’s glamdoll for her anglicised accent and inane roles, wants to be taken seriously. And she is leaving no stone unturned to slam her brainless image.
After doing a number of chirpy dim-witted roles, the perky beauty will be seen going sober for her next flick ‘Rajniti’. Directed by Prakash Jha, the film will present Katrina in an all-new light.
With the flick set in India and no western angle; the project requires Katrina to undergo voice modulations to get dialect right. Besides the accent issue, the charmer will also have to go in for a bigger wardrobe, as she will be covered from head to toe, leaving no room for skin show.
Speaking to a news daily, the actress said, "My role in Rajniti has different shades - I start off as a particular way and end up as a completely changed persona. The character is immensely challenging and it is a huge responsibility to carry off such a character. I am very excited to work with Prakash Jha, who is known for his kind of cinema and believes in involving himself in every department of his films. In a couple of days, I will be shooting for the film in Bhopal where I have scenes with a crowd of around 500 and I am gearing up for it."
With a serious subject and no sneak show, Katrina seems to have no other option but to act and act well.
