Srinagar, Oct 08: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has said that his government would take every effort to start air service between Srinagar and Kargil during winter.
"Every effort would be made for initiating air service between Srinagar and Kargil during winter," Azad assured Representatives of Imam Khumini Memorial Trust and Islamia
school Kargil in Kargil yesterday.
The Chief Minister said the matter would be taken up with concerned authorities and also with Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel.
Kargil remains cut off from rest of the state during winter months due to heavy snowfall at 11,578 foot Zojila Pass, the only surface link between Kargil and Srinagar.
He said government is aware of the requirements of people especially those living in far-flung and remote areas and development plans have already been made in the direction.
