Kalam expresses concern at brain drain in new book

Concerned at the continued brain drain from the country, President A P J Abdul Kalam feels the nation cannot afford to educate its children only to see them becoming workers for foreign companies.

New Delhi, Nov 27: Concerned at the continued brain drain from the country, President A P J Abdul Kalam feels the nation cannot afford to educate its children only to see them becoming workers for foreign companies.
The 75-year-old Kalam, whose tenure as president ends in July next year, has expressed this feeling in his forthcoming book "You Are Born To Blossom", says its co-author Arun Tiwari.

Sharing his experiences of writing the book with Kalam, Tiwari, whose association with the president goes back more than two decades, said the president feels the country "cannot afford to educate children to become slaves of foreign corporations. That will be eventually forfeiting the future of our nationhood."

In the book that will hit the stands next month in Hindi and English, Kalam, seen as a people`s president, tells youth that there are tremendous resources and a support system beyond formal education that have to be experienced by them.

"Kalam has anguish about the education system. He often says that after his Presidential tenure is over, he wants to go back to teaching. He is so fond of children and is concerned about their education," Tiwari, a bio-medical engineer, said in an interview.
