Kancheepuram, Jan 06: The judicial custody of Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswati in the Sankararaman murder case, which expired on Thursday, was extended up to January 19 by a court in Kancheepuram.
The Judicial Magistrate-I, G Uthamaraja, on Thursday went up to Chengalpattu and spoke with the seer via video conferencing facility available there, before extending the remand till January 19.
The seer was arrested in November in the case of murder of Sankararaman, a temple official, which took place in September.
The seer is now in Vellore jail.
