'I am not an outsider to Bhagalpur': Shahnawaz

BJP nominee for Bhagalpur Lok Sabha by-election Syed Shahnawaz Hussain today rejected the tag of being an outsider to Bhagalpur saying he was born in the district.

Patna, Oct 08: BJP nominee for Bhagalpur Lok Sabha by-election Syed Shahnawaz Hussain today rejected the tag of being an outsider to Bhagalpur saying he was born in the district.
"I am not an outsider for Bhagalpur as I was born at Supual which was a sub-division of Bhagalpur district before becoming full-fledged district in March 1991," Hussain, the
BJP choice for the parliamentary seat, vacated by Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, told over phone from Delhi.

"I have always been in touch with Bhagalpur whenever I am in Bihar...I need not give my introduction to the voters of Bhagalpur," he said.

State minister for power and JD(U) MLA from Supual Vijendra Prasad Yadav corroborated Hussain's claim.

Asked what would be his poll issue, Hussain, who was a cabinet minister in the previous NDA government, said "I will seek votes citing the performance of Nitish Kumar government in Bihar".

Hussain, who lost to Union Minister of State for Agriculture Mohammad Taslimuddin at Kisanganj Lok Sabha seat in the last parliamentary poll, said the NDA government in
Bihar was making a sincere effort for development of the state.

"Development works are visible now... Besides, many more are in the pipeline," Hussain, who is coming to Patna tonight, said.

Sources close to Hussain said the BJP candidate will file
his nomination from Bhagalpur seat on October 12.
