Mumbai, Jan 25: Film maker Yash Chopra, who has been bestowed the Padma Bhushan, today expressed happiness at receiving one of the country's most prestigious award.
"I am honoured at receiving this award. It is a prestigious one," he said here today.
"An award is always a happy occasion, but much more satisfying and happier when it come from the government itself, because one is assured that the government has recognised one's work," he said.
On whether the award should have come earlier in the day, he said "an award will come if it has to."
He said he perceives the award as a recognition of being a good citizen of the country by contributing something substantial back to it.
However, Chopra disagreed that an award made a difference to one's work. "I believe that one must work and put in effort as much as he can irrespective of the fact, he bags an award or not."
