HC stays release of film

Mumbai, Jan 27: The Bombay High Court today stayed till February three the release of movie

Mumbai, Jan 27: The Bombay High Court today stayed till February three the release of movie "Black Friday" which claims to be the story of march 12, 1993 serial blasts that shattered the city, killing 257 persons and injuring 713.
A bench of Justice H L Gokhale and S Dharmadhikari passed the order on a petition filed by Mustafa Moosa Taurani, an accused in the blast who protested against the release of the movie as the judgement in the trial was awaited.

The bench may watch the movie and hear both the sides before passing its final order on the movie, advocate Shahid Azmi, appearing for Taurani, said.

Taurani had challenged the release of the film saying it may prejudice the outcome of the case. He also objected to the acknowledgement by the author of the book wherein he has mentioned that the special judge conducting the trial had perused the manuscript of the book.

On January 24, the special Terrorist and Disruptive Act (TADA) Court allowed the makers of the movie to withdraw the words `True Story`, from the promotional title of the film.

Some of the accused in the case had objected to the title saying the judgement was yet to come and had questioned the tag line "True Story."

Judge P D Kode, hearing the arguments, had remarked "I am hearing the trial and the judgement are yet to come. You can call it a true story and claim that it is so only if you were a part of it (blast conspiracy)."
