London, Nov 04: The schoolboy wizard, Harry Potter, has been named the greatest screen fantasy hero of all time in a poll conducted by the Sci Fi channel on film fans.
"It's great that a home-grown icon has been voted greatest hero," The Mirror quoted the channel's spokesman as saying.
JK Rowling's creation, whose latest film Harry Potter And The Goblet of Fire premieres in London this weekend, was followed by cyborg star of Terminator 2 in the poll of 1,500 movie-goers.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer came in third, while Spiderman took the fourth slot.
Star Wars favourite Darth Vader was named the best movie villain, followed by the monsters from the Alien film series.
The top 10 fantasy and sci-fi heroes are: Potter, Terminator, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Spiderman, Doctor Who, Han Solo (Star Wars), Neo (The Matrix), Spock (Star Trek), Yoda (Star Wars), Batman.
