Govt seeks House nod for Rs 37k cr excess outlay in FY`07

The government has sought Parliament approval for excess expenditure of Rs 37,000 cr incurred during 2006-07 on account of joint exercise with foreign armies and higher interest payments on various debts among other heads.

New Delhi, July 08: The government has sought
Parliament approval for excess expenditure of Rs 37,000 crore
incurred during 2006-07 on account of joint exercise with
foreign armies including the US and higher interest payments
on various debts among other heads.

While over Rs 33,000 crore was incurred for additional
capital expenditure, more than Rs 4,000 crore was spent for
revenue expenditure, according to demands for excess grants
for expenditure of central government, excluding Railways, for
2006-07 tabled in Parliament on Wednesday.

Moreover additional over Rs 33,000 crore was incurred by
the Finance Ministry on repayment of debt, over Rs 3,500 crore
was incurred by the same ministry on interest payments.

Another over Rs 600 crore was spend by the Defence
Ministry on higher dearness allowance to the Army personnel
and joint exercises with foreign armies including US.
