and is conserving and preserving the heritage structures.

In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha,
Minister of State for Planning and Parliamentary Affairs V
Narayanasamy, who also holds ad-hoc charge of Culture
Ministry, said proposals were received from various agencies
and individuals of different states for declaring 31 monuments
as of national importance.

"25 out of the 31 have been found suitable for
protection by the Central Government, including two from
Kerala," he said in reply to a question posed by a Kerala MP.

He said the government had sanctioned Rs 6.46 lakh for
conservation and protection of group of temples at Thoban in
Madhya Pradesh.
