New Delhi, Feb 04:Besides being two fresh faces in the glam circuit, there’s something more in common between Ramona Sunavala and Samir Kochhar. They are both excited about their future. While Ramona is on a high after being selected as an MTV veejay from among 12,000-odd wannabes from across the nation, Samir is right now looking forward to Valentine’s Day. For, come Feb. 14, his Bollywood debut happens in Sumeer Sabharwal’s film, Valentine Days.
“It’s a love story about three guys falling for one girl (played by Seeta Thompson – a newcomer who’s had a Hollywood stint). I play the obsessed lover, a rich arrogant brat who doesn’t take no for an answer,” says Samir, a Delhiite who went to St. Columba’s School and launched himself in theatre at the age of 17. “I worked with Roshan Abbas and played the lead in his Graffiti Postcards From School,” says Samir, who compered the HT Generation Now: The Mood concert along with Ramona, where Shankar Mahadevan performed on Sunday at the DPS (RK Puram) Sports Complex.
Ramona, who hosts MTV Ek Do Teen, MTV Soul To Soul, MTV Big Picture, MTV Start, MTV In Box and MTV Fresh, recounts playing Kareena Kapoor’s friend in Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham: “There was this scene in K3G when in the presence of Kajol, Kareena and Farida Jalal, I was supposed to seduce Shah Rukh Khan. The scene took my breath away, I was so nervous. It was a learning experience,” she says.
Samir is upbeat about his next two films. “Both these films are by Iqbal Durrani. The first is Gandhi Se Pehle Gandhi, based on Birsa Munda’s life. The other is the Indian version of No Man’s Land. These films will give me a scope to exhibit my histrionics,” he signs off.
