Four file nomination papers in Manipur

Four candidates on Saturday filed nomination papers for the first phase April 16 Lok Sabha polls in outer Manipur parliamentary constituency (hill districts), election office said.

Imphal, March 28: Four candidates on Saturday filed nomination papers for the first phase April 16 Lok Sabha polls in outer Manipur parliamentary constituency (hill districts), election office said.
Sources said Congress candidate Thangso Baite, BJP nominee Loli Adani, People`s Democratic Alliance (PDA) candidate, Mani Cheranamei and an Independent Valley Rose submitted their papers to returning officer RK Dinesh who is also the deputy commissioner of Thoubal district.

With this, the number of candidates who filed papers for the forthcoming polls has gone upto five, sources said. NCP candidate L B Sona has already filed his nomination papers.

March 30 was the last date of filing papers. Scrutiny of papers would be done on March 31 and last date of withdrawal is fixed on April 02.

Second phase polls would be held on April 22 in inner Manipur Parliamentary (valley districts). Manipur has two Parliamentary seats--inner Manipur and outer Manipur.
