Los Angeles, Jan 10: US fans voted "Fahrenheit 911" their favourite movie of 2004 in the 31st annual People`s Choice Awards, picking politics over the animation and fantasy flicks also nominated.
Accepting the award at a glittering ceremony near Los Angeles yesterday, the winning film`s controversial director Michael Moore dedicated it to American parents who have children serving in Iraq.

"We live in a great country and we all love our country very much, and I am so amazed that you did this, the people of America, that you voted for this film," Moore said as he accepted it.

The movie, which became the best-selling documentary of all time, beat out "Spiderman 2," "Shrek 2" and "The Incredibles."

"I love making movies and I`ll take this as an invitation to make more Fahrenheit 9/11s," Moore said of his unabashedly partisan look at the handling of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks and the US war in Iraq that merciless flays President George W. Bush.

Actor-director Mel Gibson was also on hand to accept the award for favorite movie drama for his "The Passion of the Christ."

Viewers choice awards, the first Tinseltown Awards of the year, are chosen by fans who this year voted over the internet.

Actress Renee Zellweger of the Bridget Jones films was chosen as favorite leading lady in the group`s first fully web-based vote.
