Mumbai, Mar 18: Donatella Versace is in Mumbai to attend the grand finale of Lakme Fashion House and she will choose the winner from the six with the help of Jani and Khosla.
The reality show wave has really hit Indian television hard. After Channel [V]’s Popstars, MTV’s Roadies, Zee Cinestar Ki Khoj, Indian Idol, Dance Dance and Super Singer, now we have Lakme Fashion House.
The show was brought to India by Mumbai-based Fact Based Communications Media Pvt Ltd. It will search for India’s best fashion designer. Fashion has also got foreign origins but this time in Italy where there is a show called Fashion House.
However, unlike earlier reality shows, this one has an unique international prize offer: the winner gets an internship with the House of Versace, worldwide merchandising deal for the production and distribution of the winning outfit under the VERSACE label along with an opportunity to display the winning collection at the Lakme India Fashion Week.
Over 2,000 aspirants applied for the contest and the final 16 were chosen by designers Abu Jani, Sandeep Khosla, Raghuvendra Rathore, Manoviraj Khosla, Anita Dongre and Anamika Khanna. The whole process was initiated in December 2004.
The elimination rounds are over and 14 aspiring designers are still in fray. Those left are Ruhee Shah and Ruth Allison Narjinari from Kolkata, Divya Raman and Ghanshyam Prasad from Chennai, Rajitha Rajan and Jobby Chacko from Bangalore, Zubin Vakil from Secundrabad, Shazad Kalim, Leena Wadhwa and Sandhya Srinivasan from Delhi, Santosh, Bhawana, Swapnil Shinde from Sandeep Biswas from Mumbai.
Donatella had appeared as a celebrity guest during the show. As she found the format very exciting, innovative and also a platform provider, she decided to be part of the next series of Fashion House.
